NOTICE IS GIVEN that on 2nd May 2024 the Bath and North East Somerset Council (the Council) made an experimental order under provisions contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the 1984 Act), the effect of which is to introduce the following restrictions in- Charmouth Road, Lyme Road and Lyme Gardens, Newbridge, Bath;

 

1.     

Charmouth Road is to become one-way in a northerly direction, from its junction with A4 Newbridge Road to its junction with Lyme Road.

2.     

Lyme Road is to become one-way in a north westerly direction, from its junction with Charmouth Road to its junction with Lyme Gardens

3.     

Lyme Gardens is to become one-way in a south westerly direction from its junction with Lyme Road to its junction with A4 Newbridge Road

 

Cycles and other non-motorised vehicles are to be exempt from the one-way and can proceed as normal in both directions on each of the above roads. Some sections of road are to have double yellow lines denoting a prohibition of waiting at any time.

 

Objections and representations to the experimental order being made permanent, together with the grounds on which they are made, should be sent by completing the online response form at: www.bathnes.gov.uk/lymeroadetro for any queries concerning this proposal please telephone 01225 39 40 41, quoting reference TRO 23/030 within a period of 6 months, beginning with the day on which the experimental order comes into force, or if the order is varied by another order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force. 

 

The Council will consider in due course whether the provisions contained in the experimental order should be continued indefinitely. At that time any objections and representations received will be given consideration.  Please note that all representations received may be considered in public by the Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.

 

The order comes into operation on 17th May 2024 and a copy together with a map and a statement of reasons may be inspected at The One Stop Shops at The Hollies, Midsomer Norton/3-4 Manvers Street, Bath and at the Keynsham Civic Centre, Market Walk, Keynsham during normal office hours.

 

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act have not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
