The principle aim of the Bath Quays North development is to generate higher wage jobs for Bath providing more opportunities for our residents and young people, especially in Bath’s successful high tech, creative, financial and professional sectors.

Bath needs to retain existing businesses and attract new ones in target sectors, but there is currently a lack of Grade A flexible office space that these businesses need, much of the existing office stock has been lost to Permitted Developments (mainly student accommodation and hotels) and expanding businesses are leaving Bath.
As well as generating jobs, investment and economic growth for the city, Bath Quays North will increase business rates income to support frontline Council services.

Bath Quays North will not only be the focus of a new business district, it will become a vibrant destination for the business community and local residents. The recently completed south-facing riverside park will become a sociable space perfect for outdoor leisure and activities and is a lovely backdrop for cycling and walking.
The layout of the site will reinstate the historic street pattern, which was eradicated by the unattractive 1960’s car park, and will create space for public life with pedestrianised squares and shared cycle routes linking the new Bath Quays Bridge and river path to the rest of the city. The addition of homes, waterfront cafes and restaurants will help create a lively location accessible to all.
The strategic location of the Bath Quays North site, close to the bus and train stations and on the cycle path, will maximise the opportunity for sustainable travel. Cycling will be encouraged further with excellent cycle storage and changing facilities being provided for occupiers living and working at Bath Quays North.
As part of the scheme the old multi-storey car park will be replaced with a new and safer basement carpark with up to 485 spaces, of which 320 will be public spaces. The number of spaces currently provided will be reduced in accordance with the adopted ‘Getting Around Bath’ Transport Strategy and Parking Strategy to reduce parking in the city centre and encourage use of Park and Ride sites and alternative modes of transport including trains, buses and bikes for commuters.
