Use this page to learn about the purpose of moving traffic regulations, and how we enforce them.
We use cameras to monitor moving traffic. This is to improve road safety and reduce congestion at locations where drivers regularly ignore moving traffic restrictions.
Moving traffic restrictions are indicated by road signs and include:
- no entry restrictions
- mandatory turn restrictions
- banned turns
- yellow box junctions
- weight restrictions for vehicles

How we'll enforce these regulations
If you contravene the regulation for the first six months after we introduce it, we'll normally issue a warning notice. This will be instead of a penalty charge notice (PCN). We do this to raise awareness of the restriction and encourage compliance.
Any further contraventions may result in us issuing a PCN.
We regularly monitor each enforcement location. Where compliance is high, we may pause camera enforcement or move the camera to another location. If compliance levels fall, we may reintroduce camera enforcement.

Future enforcement locations
We'll carry out a public consultation before introducing any future enforcement sites. We're not currently consulting on additional moving traffic enforcement locations.
