About Somer Valley Links

The Somer Valley Links project aims to improve travel between Bath, Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Bristol. We will be improving bus infrastructure and creating more opportunities for walking, wheeling and cycling.

Proposals include:

  • 8 new mobility hubs: places that bring together a host of transport options in one place, which might include shared transport options such as car clubs and e-scooters with public transport and places to park bikes
  • 22 bus stop upgrades
  • a kilometre of new bus lanes
  • improvements to the walking, wheeling and cycling network

Somer Valley Links is funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) and previously led by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (WECA), within the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) programme.

Upcoming works

We expect to start work on these improvements in 2026. This includes new mobility hubs, upgraded bus stops, improved junctions, new crossings and better walking, wheeling and cycling routes.
