Street Strategy consultation

Use this page to find out more about, and respond to, our Street Strategy consultation.

We are developing a Street Strategy for Bath and North East Somerset. This will set out a clear and consistent approach to how we manage public spaces across the area.

The Street Strategy combines policies, guidance and ways of working into one clear strategy to support vibrant, accessible and well-managed streets. It is not about one specific activity. Instead, it sets the overall direction and principles for managing our streets.

What we're consulting on

This strategy sets the direction and guiding principles of the more detailed consultations on street performance and amenities on the highway. It also outlines how we will develop future policies, including events, markets and street furniture, so they all work together under one joined-up approach.

This consultation forms part of the wider Street Strategy, which brings together how different street activities are managed in a coordinated, fair and accessible way.

We want your views on:

  • the overall approach to managing public spaces
  • how different activities should work together
  • how to balance things such as safety, accessibility and economic activity
  • what principles should guide decisions in the future
