The findings from the informal consultation held in October/November 2025 on proposed new on-street parking arrangements in Lambridge are now available.
We are carefully considering the findings presented in these reports before deciding on next steps.
We have considered your feedback on Liveable Neighbourhood proposals for this area. See Public Engagement Outcomes and the final list of proposals for the area outlined below.
We intend to install this scheme from mid-May 2026 and complete the work by mid-June.

The one-way experimental trial for this area was cancelled in 2024. Following a re-design and formal consultation, we installed it in February 2026. It is one of several measures that will be introduced in the area to reduce congestion and improve safety for children walking and cycling to Newbridge School.
Please visit the Lyme Road and Charmouth Road Liveable Neighbourhood web page for more information.
This consultation closed on 7 November 2025.
A report outlining the results and recommendations from this consultation was published, and the decision taken to hold further public consultation in the coming months.
You can read our press release or the cabinet member's decision notice for more information.
We will consider the outcomes of other schemes being introduced in the area to reduce congestion and improve walking and cycling infrastructure before considering whether measures proposed for this LN are required.
For the latest news on this Liveable Neighbourhood, please read the following statement by Cllr Kevin Guy, Leader of the Council.
Our intention was to engage the community on preliminary designs for this area in spring 2025. The measures to be included in the design were summarised at a high level in the final business case (FBC) for the programme including a bus gate on Camden Road, a series of one-ways, and a through-traffic restriction to help reduce traffic volumes in residential areas.
Following the statement by Cllr Kevin Guy, we will not progress these plans. For background on the FBC, please read the press release from 12 October 2024.
We have published the outcome of the formal Traffic Regulation Order (TRO 25 061) consultation held in December on the proposed School Street and one-way system.
After reviewing the consultation feedback and earlier community engagement, we have decided to proceed with the proposed measures in the interest of safety for all road users.
The one-way system will be installed on 19 February 2026, and we have written to residents and the school directly with details. The School Street will follow in May 2026, with the continuous crossings installed during the summer.
This page will be updated with further information and next steps in due course.
Read the decision notice, including responses to the feedback received (Report 5a, attached to the decision notice).

Please note we are currently in process of updating the guidance which will include updated dimensions of electric refuse collection vehicles which will be in use from October 2026.
Please contact WastePlanning@bathnes.gov.uk if you need the new vehicle dimensions for swept path analysis.
A public consultation on the proposals for this area has now closed and we are reviewing the results.

On Friday 19 December we published the Single Member Decision report on the outcomes of the Lower Lansdown and The Circus through-traffic restriction trials.
Councillors are currently reviewing the report, which includes the outcomes of traffic and air quality monitoring and the public consultation surveys.
Their decision on the future of these trials is expected early in the New Year.
You can subscribe to the Lower Lansdown e-newsletter for updates as soon as they're available.
We are working in partnership with Bath and West Community Energy to launch an offer for joint energy surveys in Autumn 2025, as part of the Green Heritage Homes project. These surveys will provide retrofit advice for listed buildings from both a heritage and a technical energy perspective.
Surveys will include a shared home visit from a Council Conservation Officer, providing Service Level 0 pre-app advice, and a BWCE assessor, providing one of BWCE’s energy surveys.
Surveys can be booked via the BWCE website and are eligible for Retrofit West discount vouchers. This joint survey service cannot be booked through B&NES Council.
A decision has now been reached to make the New Sydney Place and Sydney Road through-traffic restriction permanent under Traffic Regulation Order 25-012.
To read the decision notice and the reports summarising the outcomes of the statutory 21-day public TRO consultation, please view the legal notices. You can also read a press release.
The consultation report is being finalised and reviewed. It will now be published in July. It will include answers to the questions previously raised through Cabinet, as an appendix.
Ahead of the publication, we would like to share some initial highlights and summaries from the report. There was support for the some proposals with 66% of responses strongly supporting or supporting the City Centre to Kennet & Avon Canal route and more than half were in favour of the Royal United Hospital links route. Feedback demonstrated agreement that some of the routes would lead to a shift toward active modes, with disagreement on this point on others. We also received suggested additional/alternative walking and cycling improvements to improve the schemes.
Respondents believed the removal of parking spaces needs to be revisited and the proposals are not fully inclusive. In addition, some respondents said there would be an adverse impact on those who are dependent on cars and public transport. Within the Links to Royal United Hospital survey, respondents raised the effect of the proposals on the Royal United Hospital and other medical facilities.
Finally, a suggestion across all surveys was the need for improved public transport services, as well as suggesting infrastructure improvements to reduce traffic speeds.
This feedback received is key to supporting the development of Bath Walking, Wheeling, and Cycling Links. We encourage the community to sign up to alerts to stay updated throughout the project. Upcoming alerts will outline the project's development timeline and its next steps.
