Area Forum meetings are part of the Connecting Communities programme. They bring together residents, ward and parish councillors, community organisations and public services to discuss topics of interest and help address areas of concern.
By working together we can develop a shared understanding and respond to the issues that matter most to local people.

Meetings are open to all and are held either in person or online. The forum generally meets 4 times a year.
Next meeting
The next meeting of the Chew Valley Area will take place in July and we will confirm the date as soon as possible.
Future meeting dates
- 9 September 2026, 6pm: The topic will be the Local Plan. Venue TBC.

Recent meetings
11 February 2026: The main theme of the meeting was children and young people. The forum welcomed Gareth Beynon, headteacher of Chew Valley Secondary School, who spoke about supporting pupils, particularly around mental health. Pupils also attended to share their experiences of growing up in the Chew Valley.
The forum also received information on the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer, Family First and Best Start in Life programmes. The police attended with an update on neighbourhood policing. There were also updates from Chew Valley CIC’s Transport Partnership on the future of bus services in the area.
27 November 2025: The forum met at Chew Valley School. The meeting included updates on X91 and 99 bus services, police matters, community training volunteering and the B&NES Resilience Day. The main theme was local health and wellbeing services, with presentations from HCRG, B&NES Enhanced Medical Services (BEMS) and the Community Wellbeing Hub.
30 September 2025: The forum met at The Old School Room in Chew Magna. The police provided a summary of discussions from the multi-agency meeting on 3 September. There was further discussion on Community SpeedWatch and road safety.

26 June 2025: The forum met at Chew Valley School. There was a police update followed by presentations from Chew Valley Reconnected and Avon Needs Trees. The forum heard about the Energy in Your Community project and a Local Plan presentation, followed by a World Café discussion on development, transport and sustainability.
