Wellsway works, autumn 2026

From 2 to 21 November 2026, we are planning to clear drains ahead of winter and conduct surveys on the A367 Wellsway.

To carry out this work safely, we will need to introduce temporary night-time traffic restrictions and parking suspensions on the Wellsway between the Midford Road and Hatfield Road junctions.

Some works will take place while resurfacing works are underway at the Wellsway/Bear Flat junction, which will be closed overnight between 16 and 22 November. By carrying out some activities during the same period, we can reduce the need for additional traffic management and avoid extending disruption.

See the works programme and traffic management plans below for details of what will happen each night and what it might mean for you.

Please note that construction plans are subject to change due to weather conditions and unforeseen issues. Please visit this page regularly for updates.

If you have questions about this work, please see our Contact details.

What the work involves

The work includes cleaning and clearing drains between the Midford Road and Hatfield Road junctions to mitigate against flood risk ahead of winter.

We will also take this opportunity to survey the road to inform potential improvements. This involves locating utilities and taking small samples from the road surface to assess its condition.

Works programme and traffic management

The night works on the A367 Wellsway will take place between 2 and 21 November between the Midford Road and Hatfield Road junctions. Additionally, the Bear Flat junction will be closed between 16 and 22 November for resurfacing.
