We manage a large and varied property portfolio. Some of the buildings were constructed or refurbished at a time when asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) were commonly used.
As an employer and property owner, we must comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012), associated Approved Codes of Practice and relevant best-practice guidance.
Our duty to manage asbestos
Under Regulation 4 of CAR 2012, we have a legal duty to identify, record, monitor and manage all known or presumed ACMs within our properties. This information forms the basis of our Asbestos Management Plan, which is periodically reviewed and shared with anyone who may be affected.
About the Asbestos Register
The Asbestos Register is a key part of our Asbestos Management Plan. It includes:
- the location of all identified or presumed ACMs
- their type and condition
- associated risk assessments
- required management actions
The Register is a live document and is kept up to date to ensure safe working practices.
