Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:

•       a road closure / footpath closure in that length of Upper Borough Walls, City Centre Bath for its entire length. USRN: 47901403. The road is anticipated to be closed between 10:00 – 18:00hrs, however times may be adjusted or modified if/when required.  The road will not be closed continually, only for occasional short periods of time when construction-related loading or unloading activity is taking place. 

•       a road closure / footpath closure in that length of Parsonage Lane, City Centre Bath for its entire length. USRN: 47913582. The road is anticipated to be closed between 10:00 – 18:00hrs, however times may be adjusted or modified if/when required.

•       Suspension of the existing loading bay on Avon Street (near the junction with Corn Street / Riverside Coach Park), to be replaced for the duration of the Order by a temporary 30-minute waiting bay operating at all times for use by goods vehicles and construction vehicles only.

•       The bollards will be removed at the junction of Westgate Buildings/Saw Close in order to allow access into Saw Close from Westgate Buildings for authorised construction-related heavy commercial vehicles access only, plus police, fire and ambulance service vehicles as and when required.  Emergency Services access needs to be maintained at the Cheap Street access under the current arrangements.

 

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road to enable Contractors to undertake works to the old Bath Mineral Hospital from the 29th September 2026 for a maximum period of 18 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be affected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. Works are anticipated to be for EIGHTEEN MONTHS.

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Any diversions will be clearly signed during closure periods.
