Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has made an order the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce a footpath closure in that length of Southgate Footbridge, City Centre, Bath from a point opposite Bath Bus Station extending south to its junction with A36 Lower Bristol Road. USRN: 47901916.

 

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the footpath to enable Bath & North East Somerset Council to carry out repairs to damaged bridge parapet from the 27th January 2026 for a maximum period of 18 months. The footpath will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be affected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. Works are anticipated to be for SIX WEEKS. 

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Footpath Churchill Bridge to Southgate Bridge – A367 Churchill Bridge – A36 Lower Bristol Road – Vice versa.
