Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:
• a contra flow system which will be in place along London Road West, Lower Swainswick, Bath, starting from a point opposite the entrance to 14 London Road West and extending northeast for approximately 100 metres. The outbound lane (heading towards the A4 London Road roundabout), on the northern side of the carriageway, will be closed and all traffic will be diverted into the inbound lane on the southern side.
• a bus lane suspension which will be in place along London Road West, Lower Swainswick, Bath, starting from a point opposite the entrance to 14 London Road West and extending northeast for approximately 100 metres along the southern side of the carriageway. During this time, traffic travelling from the A4 London Road roundabout towards Bath City Centre will be directed into the bus lane on the southern side of the road.
This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road to enable Contractors to site a crane and carry out street lighting works in relation to a S278 development on the 1st March 2026 for a maximum period of 6 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be affected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. Works are anticipated to be for 1 day between 08:00 – 10:00hrs.
