Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:

•A road closure in that length of Bathford Hill, Compton Dando approximately 263 metres south east of its junction with Old Burnet Lane, at its point with the stone bridge. USRN: 47960027.

•A 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of Bathford Hill, Compton Dando from its junction with Court Hill/Culvery Hay, extending south east to its junction with Stalcombe Lane/Crosspost Lane. 

•A 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of Crosspost Lane and Stalcombe Lane, Compton Dando for their entire length.

 

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road due to a weak bridge, with strengthening repairs to be carried out (repair dates to be confirmed) from the 28th April 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be affected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. This is anticipated to be for 18 Months.

 

The weight restriction is to remain in place until bridge strengthening repairs have been completed. Repairs will be carried out under a full road closure (dates to be confirmed).

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Culveryhay – Fairy Hill – Chewton Road – Redlynch Lane – Charlton Road – Ashton Way – Rock Road – Bath Hill – B3116 Wellsway – B3116 Burnett Hill – Stalcombe Lane/Crosspost Lane – Bathford Hill.
