Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:
• a road closure and suspension of parking to vehicles in that length of A4 Upper Bristol Road, Lower Weston, Bath from its junction with Park Lane extending east for approximately 175 metres. USRN: 47900002.
• a road closure and suspension of parking to vehicles in that length of Midland Road, Westmoreland, Bath from its junction with A4 Upper Bristol Road extending south for approximately 80 metres. USRN: 47913514.
• a suspension of the one-way restriction on Midland Road, Westmoreland, Bath from a point outside the Police / Kia Garage rear car park extending north to its junction with Stothert Avenue.
This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road for highway resurfacing and associated works in relation to Midland Road junction improvement scheme by Bath and North East Somerset Council from the 20th August 2026 for a maximum period of 18 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be affected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. Works are anticipated to be for THREE NIGHTS between 20:00 – 06:00hrs only.

A4 Upper Bristol Road closure, Anti-clockwise: A4 Upper Bristol Road (remainder) – A3604 Windsor Bridge Road – A36 Lower Bristol Road – A36 Pines Way – A36 Lower Bristol Road – A367 Churchill Bridge – A367 Broad Quay – A367 Ambury – A367 Corn Street - A367 Green Park Road - A367 Charles Street - A367 Chapel Row – A4 Queen Square - A4 Queen Square Place – A4 Charlotte Street – A4 Upper Bristol Road.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Midland Road closure: residents to use the A36 Lower Bristol Road entrance with Midland Road, which will be two-way with temporary signals for safe access/egress.
