The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives two statutory rights to applicants who have submitted an FOI request:
- To be told if we hold the information you have requested
- To have that information communicated to you if we hold it
The Act gives members of the public a right of access to information held by public bodies, subject to certain exemptions.
Each public authority must adopt and maintain a publication scheme that details:
- the information we currently make available
- the format we hold this information in
- whether a fee applies to its release
