What we are consulting on
We are consulting on our Somer Valley Design Code Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The design code is proposed to be used alongside, and to supplement, the current adopted Local Plan and any future Local Plan so as to influence the design of housing developments. The primary objective of the Design Code is to ensure that future housing development achieves a high standard of design, reflects the local character and fosters well-integrated, sustainable communities for both current and future residents of the Somer Valley.
The Somer Valley Design Code focuses on the design quality of new residential development and is proposed to apply to the parishes of:
- Midsomer Norton
- Paulton
- Peasedown St John
- Radstock
- Westfield
The design code includes policies on:
- Green Infrastructure
- Open Space
- Connections and Permeability
- Space and Layout
- Movement and Connectivity
- Parking
Who we are consulting
Residents, businesses and stakeholders are invited to have their say on the draft Somer Valley Design Code Supplementary Planning Document.
We would like to hear from local communities and other stakeholders to understand whether they think the design code reflects the character of the Somer Valley or whether they have any other comments.
