Registration service Coronavirus update 3 June 2020
Our registration service is currently operating from the Guildhall. Offices at Midsomer Norton and Keynsham will be open for appointments only from Monday 8th June 2020. Our office at the RUH is still closed until further notice.
We are adhering to the existing General Register Office (GRO) guidance for births, still-births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships. The government published (11 May 2020) its latest guidance on Coronavirus recovery, which includes examining how to enable slightly larger groups to gather for events such as small weddings during stage 2, which will not be before 1 June 2020, and only if the correct conditions are met. No further details are available at the moment, but the GRO is working closely with partners from across government to develop plans for how this may operate.
Death registrations are temporarily being taken over the telephone.
Birth registrations can now take place in a face-face appointment at the Guildhall. Appointments can be made by calling the office (please note due to high volume of calls at this time, you may have to wait for your call to be answered). From Monday 8th June 2020, online bookings will be available for the Keynsham Office, Midsomer Norton Office and Guildhall to register births which took place in Bath and North East Somerset.
Ceremonies are postponed until an announcement has been made from the government. We are moving ceremonies for couples at no extra cost, and we are still taking bookings for new ceremonies, including bookings for Sunday weddings in the Guildhall (starting this summer).
Notices of Marriage and notices of Civil Partnership are now available at the Guildhall and from Monday 8th June will be available at Keynsham and Midsomer Norton Offices. Online bookings will be available from Monday 8th June 2020 for all three offices.
Citizenship ceremonies are postponed, but new citizens' due dates have been extended by the Home office by three months.
European settlement checking is postponed, but our European partners and their European and non- European family members can still apply for settled and pre-settled status online at the Home Office.
