Registration service Coronavirus update 29 July 2020
Our Registration Service is currently operating from the Guildhall, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton and Keynsham. Our offices at the RUH are still closed until further notice. Please wear a face –covering when attending appointments or if you are a guest at ceremonies.
We are adhering to the existing Government and General Register Office (GRO) guidance for births, still-births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships and Citizenship, and guidance for social distancing. The Government has now enabled groups of 30 to gather for events such as small weddings. At Bath and North East Somerset weddings and civil partnership ceremonies can take place for up to 26 guests – not including the couple or Registrars. GRO is working closely with partners from across government to develop plans for any further changes to ceremonies.
Ceremonies are now approved for up to 26 guests – not including the couple and Registrars. Weddings and Civil partnerships ceremonies in the Guildhall can now be booked for up to 26 guests. For our Approved Venues couples must check with the venue for availability and number of guests permitted. Notices of Marriage and notices of Civil Partnership are now available at the Guildhall, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton. Appointments can be made by contacting the main office.
Death registrations are temporarily being taken over the telephone.
Birth registrations are face-face appointments available at the Guildhall, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton. Online bookings are available to register births which took place in Bath and North East Somerset, or appointments can be made by contacting the main office.
Citizenship ceremonies can now be booked. All ceremonies will be virtual unless there is no computer access. Ceremony due dates for new citizens’ have been extended by the Home office by six months. Appointments can be made by contacting the main office.
European settlement checking is postponed, but our European partners and their European and non- European family members can still apply for settled and pre-settled status online at the Home Office.
