Photo ID for voting

You must show photo identification (ID) when voting in person at a polling station. This helps to protect the integrity and security of elections.

You will also need photo ID if you are voting in person as a proxy on behalf of someone else. You don't need photo ID if you are voting by post.

Acceptable forms of ID include:

• Passport
• Photocard driving licence (full or provisional)
• Older Person's bus pass (including Diamond travelcard)
• Disabled Person's bus pass or Blue Badge

If you don't have an acceptable form of ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate instead.
