You must show photo identification (ID) when voting in person at a polling station. This helps to protect the integrity and security of elections.
You will also need photo ID if you are voting in person as a proxy on behalf of someone else. You don't need photo ID if you are voting by post.
Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Passport
- Photocard driving licence (full or provisional)
- Older Person's bus pass (including Diamond travelcard)
- Disabled Person's bus pass or Blue Badge
You can find the full list of accepted photo ID on the GOV.UK website.
If you don't have an acceptable form of ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate instead.
