The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust and Peter Sell Annual Award

Grants are available for groups of the Scout Association or Girlguiding movement within the UK and Northern Ireland.

The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust

The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust was set up in May 1969 by the late Leslie Sell to provide financial assistance to the Scouting and Guiding movement.

This independent Trust Fund makes small grants to Groups to help with the cost of making repairs, purchasing sundry items of equipment, or trips in the UK or overseas.

Applications may be submitted at any time.  Unfortunately the Trustees are unable to consider applications for trips submitted within four months of your proposed departure or event date due to processing times.

The Peter Sell Award

The aim of this Award is to widen engagement in the Scout and Guide movements.

It is an award of up to £5,000 to a Scout or Guide group(s) given by the Leslie Sell Charitable Trust.

The Trustees invite applications which seek to do the following:

  • Widen engagement and involvement in Scouting and Guiding – in particular, the Trustees welcome applications that will encourage people to engage with scouting or guiding who have not previously done so.
  • That will have a legacy beyond the initial expenditure of the grant eg through a focus and engagement in environmental projects or by encouraging engagement of people in such projects, some of whom may then remain involved in the long term.

Applications will be considered at each of the Trustees meetings held in March and October.  The deadlines for receipt of application are 14 February and 14 September annually.

Further information about both funds are available on the Leslie Sell Charitable Trust website.  This also contains details of the procedures to follow.
