The Stanley Grundy Foundation

The Stanley Grundy Foundation makes between 25 and 30 grants each year of between £2,000 and £5,000 to UK registered charities.  Grants are generally targeted sums geared to specific projects or initiatives rather than supporting general expenditure.  Charities that advance education, relieve poverty, help disadvantaged children and medical charities tend to be prioritised for grant support.

The Foundation welcomes appeals from smaller specialised charities where these relatively small sums can make a real difference.

The many areas the Foundation has supported since 2020 have included:

  • UK Mental and Medical Research
  • Developing a Sign Language GCSE
  • Helpline provision for Young Carers
  • Training for Surgeons in Disaster and War Zones
  • Caring for Rough Sleepers and their Dogs
  • Audio Book Libraries for Children’s Hospitals
  • Screening for Teenage Hidden Heart Conditions
  • Social and Legal help for Abused Women
  • Caring for broken Families in Africa and Asia, and
  • Providing welcome packs for Refugee Children.

Grants are not normally available for charities working in the following areas:

  • Cultural
  • Location-specific charities, or
  • Religious causes

Charities wishing to apply for a grant from the Foundation are invited to do so by email for specific projects or a defined area of action.  Applications for grants should be made by email and include:

  • The name and address of the applying charity
  • Charity registration number, and
  • The objectives of the organisation

Requests for grant support are normally considered in April and October annually.
