Yeovil, Somerset-based, the St Lazarus Charitable Trust predominantly funds overseas projects. The Trust raises and distributes funds for the relief of people with Leprosy throughout the world. A map showing areas of the world where Leprosy is found is available on its website.
The Vision of the Trust is “to be instrumental in the prevention and alleviation of leprosy worldwide”, while its Mission is:
- To help and support those in need, especially those suffering from leprosy or similar diseases, and
- To change the public perception of leprosy in England and Wales.
The Objects of The St. Lazarus Charitable Trust are the relief of poverty and sickness, the relief of disabled and the advancement of the Christian religion, and in particular:
- The relief of persons suffering from leprosy.
- The relief of the aged.
- The relief of victims of disaster and war, and
- The advancement of the Christian Faith.
In addition, responding to natural disasters has always been one of the Trust’s purposes and the Trust uses its reserves to react to such appeals.
The trustees meet twice a year, in April and October. The vast majority of grants are made at the October meeting. Please note that, unless you have received a grant from the Trust previously, all applications must be submitted on a Pro-Forma available from the Secretary.
