The Michael Tippett Musical Foundation

One-off grants of between £500 and £3,000 are available to UK registered charities and charitable organisations for the performance or recording of works by the composer Michael Tippett (1905-1998).

Details of their 2025 grants will be available soon.

If you are unsure as to the suitability or eligibility of a project, please contact the Foundation’s administrator, Dr Lucy Walker.

Applications should include:

  • An attached project description (maximum length 2 single-sided A4 pages at 12pt type) for presentation to Trustees, which might include (as appropriate):
  • A brief outline of what you are planning.
  • The time scale of the project, including dates of concert or recording.
  • How the project will be accessed (including, as appropriate, the names of promoters / venues / streaming sites / record companies). You may be asked to demonstrate the commitment of external organisations to this project.
  • The key repertoire relevant to this application.
  • The names of the principal musicians and other key participants, including brief biographical and any other relevant information (you may wish to provide external links).
  • A demonstration of why the project would not be possible without additional income and, where possible, the specific application of extra funds.
  • The specific sum requested, and
  • An attached project budget on a single page, showing estimated expenditure, anticipated income from all sources, including grants and applications from/to other bodies, with explanatory notes if needed. The Trustees understand that a grant from the Tippett Foundation may be only one of a number of different funding sources.

The Trustees normally meet once each year to consider applications for grant support.

Applications should be sent in electronic format (PDF, doc or docx., xls or xlsx) to admin@tippettfoundation.org.uk

Applicants are welcome to provide sound/visual evidence via Wetransfer or similar computer file transfer service rather than attaching large files.

All applications received will be acknowledged.  The Foundation aims to give applicants a decision within 12 weeks of the deadline.
