The Benesco Charity Limited is a registered charity and a private company. Its parent charity is the Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust (also known as the Wolfson Family Charitable Trust but, although related, the Trust is a separate grant-making entity to the Wolfson Foundation.
The majority of the grants made by the Benesco Charity Limited are to the Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust. However, Benesco also makes a limited number of grants in its own right to UK registered charities, hospitals and schools or similar institutions. Grants are directed towards the major areas listed below, especially for capital or fixed term projects, and with particular, but not exclusive, regard to the needs of the Jewish community:
- Education.
- Medicine, and
- Welfare.
