The Britford Bridge Trust

Grants, generally for between £10,000 and £30,000, are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas on activities which further the Trust's wide-reaching charitable objectives.

When considering which applicants to support, the Trust will prioritise those that help realise its primary charitable purposes.  If not, it will be one of its secondary charitable purposes.  Please note that charities working at a national and/or international level are preferred, although charities operating at a local and regional level will also be considered, particularly if they’re working in Cambridge, Dorset or Wolverhampton.

Notwithstanding its wide-reaching charitable objects, a primary focus is placed on:

  • The prevention or relief of poverty
  • The advancement of education
  • The advancement of health or the saving of lives
  • The advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science

The Trust places a secondary focus on:

  • The advancement of citizenship or community development.
  • The advancement of amateur sport.
  • The advancement of environmental protection or improvement; and
  • The relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.

While the majority of grants are between £10,000 and £30,000, a number of awards are for significantly higher amounts and can be made over several years.

The Trust considers applications every 3 months and will also meet at least annually to review and discuss its grant-making priorities and processes.
