The Grace Trust

Grants, generally for under £3,000, are available for UK charities working in the UK and/ overseas.

Established by members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church in 1968, the overarching aim of the Grace Trust  is the advancement of Christianity to all – both believers and non-believers.  The Trust continues to be funded by donations from businesses and individuals mostly who are members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church and who share the Trust’s vison of providing for others.  While the Trust has a long tradition of supporting educational organisations, it also supports UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas in the areas of:

  • Childcare.
  • Disability support.
  • Disaster relief.
  • Essential medical research, and
  • Non-government emergency services and medical relief.

Grants to educational charities forms the largest part of the Trust’s charitable activity, and the Trust selects educational charities which are committed to providing, or supporting, the provision of an education for children and young people regardless of their parents’ ability to pay, their academic ability, or any special educational needs.

The Trust regularly makes donations totalling around £30 million each year.  Grants tend to be for £3,000 or less, augmented by the occasional higher award.

The Trust considers all requests for grant support and recommendations are made by the grant-making committee, comprising individuals who are not Trustees of the Grace Trust, for approval by the Trust.  The Trust considers that this allows for additional scrutiny of applications, and unbiased opinions to be presented to the Board, therefore providing increased independence.

Further information about the Trust is available on its website.

No details are provided by the Trust about how to apply for a grant.  Potential applicants are advised to contact the Trust - there is a 'Contact Us' Form on its website.
