The primary aim of the Birthday House Trust is the provision of sheltered accommodation at Eastbourne, Midhurst, West Sussex, known as Birthday House. In addition to this, the Trust also considers requests for grant aid from registered charities in England and Wales – usually up to £9,000.
The funding is for:
- The advancement of religion.
- The advancement of citizenship or community development.
- The advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science.
- The advancement of environmental protection or improvement.
- The relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, and
- The promotion of the efficiency of the armed forces, the police, fire and rescue services, or ambulance services.
The majority of grants are made in the areas of the arts, culture, heritage or science, and the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. There is no requirement for match funding.
