A grant-making Trust with West Country connections, the Maingot Charitable Trust supports UK based registered charities active in the UK and (very occasionally) overseas whose work reflects the interests of the trustees, which is currently:
- Children.
- Disabled.
- Homeless people.
- People who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
- Prisoners.
- The welfare and legal rights of refugees, and
- The victims of trafficking and slavery.
Grants are generally around £10,000.
The Maingot Charitable Trust prefers to form strong partnerships with grant recipients in order to offer them some security in their funding. Grants are often awarded year on year for those charities the Trust has formed a relationship with.
The Trust meets formally at least twice each year but discuss requests for funding informally at regular intervals.
Please note the Trust does not maintain a website. Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.
Because the Trust rarely accepts new charities on to its portfolio – its lead trustee Sally Wright (formerly Norris – all trustees are members of the Norris family) actively seeks prospective grantees - a letter of introduction is advised in the first instance.
