Small grants, normally for under £2,000, are available to UK registered charities working in the areas of
- animal welfare
- cancer
- community
- health and disability
- hospices
- military and disabled
- religion
The Hornby Lonsdale Charitable Trust was known as Mrs E G Hornby’s Charitable Settlement until 2020 and is sometimes still referred to by its previous title.

The Trustees meet annually to review applications for funding. Only successful applicants are notified of the Trustees' decision.
Because the Trust tends to support the same group of charities each year, the prospect of being added to its list of regular grant recipients is likely to be limited. However, charities that would like to be considered for grant support can write to the Trust.
