Generally small grants under £5,000 are available to registered charities in England and Wales working in the areas of the arts, education, medical research, sport and, particularly social welfare (over 80% of all awards are for charities working in the area of social welfare).
The following two grant-making charities – the John Beckwith Charitable Trust and the Heather Beckwith Charitable Settlement - are closely related. The John Beckwith Charitable Trust is currently the larger of the two, generally awarding grants of under £5,000 to registered charities in England and Wales that are working in the following fields:
• Arts.
• Education.
• Medical Research.
• Sport, and
• Social Welfare.
The vast majority of grants made are for charities working in the area of social welfare.
