Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust is an independent charity and an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Ministry of Defence (MOD).  Its core purpose is to deliver targeted, high-impact grant programmes that support the United Kingdom's armed forces community, ensuring that serving personnel, veterans, and their families are treated fairly.

The Trust manages several funding streams to address systemic challenges within the military community. The Trust concentrates its grants on four main areas:

  • Veteran Healthcare: supporting non-core healthcare and wellbeing services for veterans
  • Family Support: removing unique barriers to family life caused by military service
  • Service and Post-Service Help: providing extra assistance to individuals who need help both during and after their service career.
  • Community Integration: enhancing integration between civilian and military populations, allowing the armed forces community to participate fully as citizens.

The Trust operates on a rolling multi-year grant-making strategy with active programmes.

It currently has the following programmes open to applications:

Free From Fear Programme: the programme programme awards grants of between £100,000 and £250,000 to focus on addressing domestic abuse and strengthening responses for serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families.  Projects must help reduce the impact of domestic abuse in armed forces communities.  The deadline for applications is midday (12 noon) on Wednesday 23 September 2026.

Supporting Partners Programme: awards funds of between £10,000 and £150,000 to assist the partners of active serving personnel.  The Supporting Partners. programme aims to strengthen support for partners of serving personnel, including reservists, by improving access to services, building on skills and experience, enabling informed choices, and addressing barriers to employment and other opportunities.  Projects must benefit partners of serving personnel.  The deadline for applications is midday (12 noon) on Wednesday 23 September 2026.
