Grants are available to individuals who have worked, or are currently working, in the UK drinks hospitality industry who are facing difficult circumstances and are in need of financial and/or practical and emotional support.
Soon to be approaching its 150th anniversary, the Drinks Trust has had a number of other titles in history, including the ‘Wine and Spirit Trades Benevolent Society’ and ‘The Benevolent’.
The Drinks Trust is the trade charity for people who are currently working, or have worked, in the UK drinks hospitality industry in any role and in any sector. Its mission is to help colleagues who are facing a variety of difficult circumstances, including illness, disability, issues with stress or depression, and more.
Practical, emotional and financial assistance is given to anyone in the drinks trade who is currently employed, or has been employed, and have derived their income principally from the alcoholic drinks business and who meet the criteria for eligibility (an Eligibility Checker is available on the Charity’s website - click on the 'Can we help you?' tab at the top of the homepage.
In many instances, the Trust’s beneficiaries are of pensionable age and are in retirement. However, the Drinks Trust is increasingly helping those within the drinks industry in need of financial as well as practical and emotional support.
The Trust:
- Makes regular monthly payments to alleviate financial hardship.
- Makes one-off grants or payments to help address suffering or crises.
- Provides emotional or practical assistance for issues of wellbeing or hardship, and
- Provides support for the residents of the homes that the charity used to own and run (namely, the Vintry Estate in Eastbourne and Woodend in Chorley, properties formerly owned by The Drinks Trust until the sale of both sites in 2013).
The Trust also covers the cost of TV Licences and provides Christmas gifts to some regular grant beneficiaries.
