Unrestricted multi-year revenue grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 for UK registered charities working in the areas of human rights, prison reform and the environment.
The Bromley Trust is an independent grant-making Trust, which makes revenue grants (grants are not made for capital projects) to UK registered charities working in the areas of Human Rights Prison Reform and the environment, as follows:
• To combat violations of human rights and help victims of torture, refugees from oppression and those who have been falsely imprisoned; to help those who have suffered severe bodily or mental hurt through no fault of their own and if need be help their dependents; to try in some small way to offset man's inhumanity to man.
• To promote Prison Reform within the United Kingdom with particular emphasis on the reduction of re-offending, and
• To oppose the extinction of the world’s flora and fauna and the destruction of the environment for wildlife and for mankind worldwide.
The Trust usually supports small, specialist charities with an annual income of between £100,000 and £1.5 million. The Trust prefers to provide multi-year funding and likes to develop close relationships with recipients of grants so it can provide support and help them to achieve their aims.
The Trust sometimes awards restricted funding specifically towards one area of a charity’s work (for example, for organisations running multiple projects where one or more of them falls outside the Trust’s focus areas of human rights, prison reform and the environment).
To apply, charities should initially complete the Eligibility Questionnaire on the Trust's website (scroll down the page to the 'Eligibility Quiz tab). If successful, applicants will be given access to an online application form.
There are no application deadlines. Applications are considered on a rolling basis as they are received. Shortlisted applicants can expect to meet with the Trust’s Director as part of the application process. Please note that it can take up to 9 months for a grant to be awarded.
Applications are considered at the Trust’s Grants Meetings in January and July.
