Medical Research

Small grants are available to UK registered charities for medical research in its broadest sense, as well initiatives for children and youth groups, the disabled, the countryside, the arts, sport, carers groups and animal welfare.

Its primary area of interest is medical research on a broad front rather than in specialised fields. This can include general medical equipment or equipment for use in research, or grants to cover travelling and subsistence expenses for doctors and students studying abroad.

In general, the Foundation prefers to support the start-up and initial stages of new projects and filling in gaps/shortfalls.

In addition to its primary priority of medical research, the Foundation also supports projects that benefit:

•    Children and youth groups.
•    The disabled.
•    The countryside.
•    The arts.
•    Sport.
•    Carers groups, and
•    Animal welfare.

UK registered charities may apply for a grant of between £250 and £1,500.  Higher awards are occasionally made.  There is no specified requirement for matched funding.

Applications should be made in writing by 31st August annually for the October meeting and by 28 February annually for the April meeting
