Improve access to education or the quality of education for under 25's

The BFSS supports charitable organisations running UK and International projects to improve access to education or the quality of education for vulnerable or deprived children and young people under the age of 25.

They award approximately £900,000 in new grants every year through 2 grant rounds:

UK Projects

For UK projects they have recently narrowed their focus and will only consider applications for new and innovative interventions to improve the educational outcomes and life chances of Young Carers and Care Experienced Young People.  These grants are available to small to medium sized registered charities and normally with an annual income between £5,000 and £2.5 million.

Also, UK based and state funded schools, academies, colleges and other educational establishments regardless of their income size, providing they can demonstrate a network effect beyond one individual school.

International Projects

BFSS supports projects to improve the quality, sustainability, and access to education for young people within international marginalised and deprived communities.  These grants are available to Small to medium sized registered charities normally with an annual income between £5,000 and £2.5 million.

Subsidiary Trusts

The Society also offers a small number of specific grants for organisations and individuals through its Subsidiary Trusts.  See their website for further details.
