The Burden Trust Grants

Grants of up to £20,000 for registered charities in England (but with a strong preference for charities in Bristol).

The Burden Trust is one of Bristol’s oldest grant-making Trusts, having been founded shortly before the outbreak of the First World War. The Trust, which was founded by the Reverend Harold Nelson Burden, maintains an overall adherence to the tenets and principles of the Church of England.

The Trust provides one-off grants to registered charities - primarily in Bristol but occasionally in other parts of England - that are working in the areas of:

•    Homes and care for young people.
•    Hospitals.
•    Medical research.
•    People in need.
•    Retirement homes, and
•    Schools and training institutions.

While the Trust is regarded as provider of one-off grants, it tends to make a number of repeat awards, augmented by grants to charities it hasn’t previously supported.

Further information, guidance and an online application form is available on the Trust’s website.
