The Dr L H A Pilkington Charitable Trust

A limited number of small grants are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas in the areas of health and disability.

South West England (Bath) based, the Dr L H A Pilkington’s Charitable Trust, also known as the Dr L H A Pilkington’s Charitable Settlement, is celebrating its 60th anniversary of grant-making in 2024.  This is a small grant-making Trust with just two trustees – Helen and Timothy Bankes - that makes a limited number of modest awards each year.  Although it is a discretionary grant-maker with the ability to award grants to a wide range of charitable causes, its main areas of interest are health and disability, particularly where this relates to children, young people and the elderly.

Donations and grants are only made to registered charities.  No applications are considered from unregistered organisations or individuals.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales lists the Trust’s objectives as:

  • General Charitable Purposes.
  • The Advancement of Health or the Saving Of Lives, and
  • Disability.

While its preferred beneficiaries are given as:

  • Children and young people.
  • Elderly/older people.
  • People with disabilities, and
  • Other charities or voluntary bodies.

Please note that the Trust does not have a website.  Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.

Enquiries about the availability of grant support may be made at any time.
