The Reunite Foundation is a non-profit that offers advice, support and information when reuniting families and tracing relatives with whom contact has been lost over the years. Family members may lose touch for any number of reasons; perhaps a relative has moved away and has lost touch or a family quarrel that has never reconciled.
They advise, assist and support local hospital Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), hospital admissions departments, local authorities, residential care homes, carers or social workers to locate missing relatives and next of kin for any number of reasons. This support is crucial in cases where someone has been admitted to hospital and has no next of kin or no known family. Alternatively, it may be a local authority, social worker or carer who has concerns for the welfare of a particular individual.
There is no charge for their services and they operate locally in the United Kingdom. They also conduct international searches for family members which may include contact with organisations such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
If you need to talk anything through, you can call their helpline on 020 7097 3974.
