An options consultation (also known as a Regulation 18 consultation) is an important stage in creating a Local Plan. It gives residents, businesses and other interested groups the chance to comment on proposed planning options before the plan is developed further.
Following changes to national planning policy in late 2024, we reviewed our Local Plan process and carried out a new options consultation. This made sure the Local Plan reflects the latest national requirements and local priorities.

We are using the comments received during the Options Consultation, along with further evidence and assessment work, to prepare the next stage of the Local Plan.
The next stage will be the Regulation 19 Draft Local Plan consultation, which we plan to publish in autumn 2026.
