Grants of between £250 and £3,000 are available to young musicians aged 7 to 17 in the UK who are living in low-income households to remove financial barriers that prevent the achievement of personal potential.
Young Sounds UK’s Thrive Programme provides grants of between £250 and £3,000 for young musicians in the UK aged 7 to 17 who are living in low-income households. Grants are designed to help talented young musicians fulfil their musical potential by helping remove financial barriers. Grants can be used to cover the cost of equipment, exam fees, instruments, lessons and transport.
As well as offering grant support, Young Sounds UK can also provide:
- Careers advice
- Free access to YuStudio, an online music creation, production and composition platform
- Free tickets to concerts and events
- Masterclasses and workshops
- Mentoring
- Online sessions, and
- Opportunities for performing
Young Sounds UK has created a network of ‘Connectors’ whose role is to connect young people and families with musical opportunities and information. Details can be found towards the foot of the Thrive Programme webpage.
In order to be eligible to apply for a grant, a young person must be in one of the following household income bands:
- Definitely eligible: total household income below £35,000 per year
- May be eligible: total household income between £35,000 and £41,000 per year
- Unlikely to be eligible: total household income above £41,000 per year
