The Sandra Charitable Trust

The Trust makes a large number of grants, mostly for under £10,000, to UK registered charities for general charitable purposes. The Trust has a particular - but not exclusive – focus on animal welfare, the environment, the relief of poverty and children and young people. It also provides financial support for nurses experiencing financial hardship.

The Sandra Charitable Trust is a London-based discretionary grant-making charity.  The Trust provides grant support to a wide variety of beneficiaries including:

Nurses - in particular, assistance is given to nurses suffering financial hardship and those requiring financial support to complete their studies.

  • Charities involved in animal welfare and research
  • Environmental protection
  • The relief of poverty
  • Youth development

The Sandra Charitable Trust provides assistance to charities where the Trustees believe that the grants will have a real and direct effect on the underlying needs which, in turn, furthers the Trust’s charitable purposes.

A special area of help is given to those who are training to be nurses in need of financial assistance.

Since inception, grants have been given to approximately 1,000 different charities and over 2,500 grants have been made to different nurses.  Most grants to charities are for less than £10,000.

Please note that the Trust does not have a website.  Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.

Applications may be made at any time in writing.  The Trustees meet regularly throughout the year to review requests for grant support.  The day-to-day administration of grants and the processing and handling of applications prior to the consideration of the Trustees is delegated to the Secretary to the Trustees.
