The Rainbow Dickinson Trust

Small grants, generally for under £3,000, are available for teachers in schools, young musicians, choirs and orchestras throughout the UK to support music education projects.

The Rainbow Dickinson Trust is a family-based grant-making charity with its principal office in Suffolk.  The Trust was established by Dr Bernarr Rainbow and Professor Peter Dickinson to apply its income for the benefit of the advancement and promotion of education in music.  Its further powers include:

  • The making of grants, bursaries and scholarships to and for teachers of music or other persons practicing the art or science of music.
  • To increase the knowledge of the public in music or to assist research into music education.
  • To arrange and provide for the holding of concerts, recitals and lectures, and
  • To take necessary steps to publish or maintain in print the scholarly writings of leading authorities in the field of music education.

Please note that the Trust does not have a website.  Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.

The trustees state in the annual accounts that they have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.

The Trust receives applications for funding from charities and other organisations.  The trustees review the applications against the objectives of the charity before deciding whether to award a grant.

Applications may be made at any time in writing.
