Small and larger grants are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas to improve the lives of animals and prevent their suffering.
Although the Anthony V Martin Charitable Foundation’s charitable objectives are “to support general charitable causes and organisations”, the Foundation is primarily an animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of animals and prevent their suffering wherever possible, regardless of location.
The Foundation will also consider applications from charities working to educate in animal welfare, or are supporting people to care for their animals, or are involving animals to create a mutually beneficial relationship between people and animals.
To date the Foundation has raised and donated in excess of £8m to charities and organisations working to continue and develop rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and education programmes to improve the treatment and welfare of all animals.
The Foundation prefers requests for capital projects (buildings, vehicles, equipment) but will consider appeals to fund animal welfare education programmes or occasionally for running costs as we are aware of increased demand, rising costs and decreased donations.
The Foundation’s preference is to fund organisations which are registered in the UK or have a partnership or association to a UK registered charity when working overseas.
New organisations will be expected to provide audited or independently examined accounts if they have not yet submitted an annual return to the Charity Commission.
Please note that applicants are expected to have applied to other grant making Trusts and organisations for financial support for their project.
Applicants can only re-apply a minimum of 24-months from the date of the conclusion of the previous application process, except in exceptional circumstances subject to Trustees' approval.
In terms of the Foundation’s future plans, it is currently accumulating funds to enable the charity to continue making donations and also to be able to react to exceptional applications for funding if necessary.
To apply, applicants should initially complete the Eligibility Quiz on the Trust’s website. Eligible applicants will then be given access to the Trust’s application form.
Applications for grants are considered at the regular meetings of the trustees. Both successful and unsuccessful applicants are acknowledged.
