Grants of up to £5,000 are available to UK charitable organisations, including charities, community groups and schools, that are helping children and families experiencing bed poverty.
Bed poverty is normally considered to be a form of child and household deprivation where families cannot afford a safe, clean or suitable place to sleep due to severe financial strain and cost-of-living issues.
Through its Small Grants Programme, the charity provides grants of up to £5,000 to help organisations provide beds, mattresses, bedding and other practical support that improves children’s sleep, wellbeing and life chances. The charity will be launching a Major Grants Programme in 2027 offering grants above £5,000.
Grants can be used for the purchase of:
- Beds
- Mattresses
- Bedding packs
- Bed bundles
- Delivery costs
- Installation costs
- Storage linked to delivery, and
- Practical costs directly associated with tackling bed poverty
Staff costs may be included where they are directly linked to project delivery and would normally be expected to represent no more than 10% of total project costs.
Applications are welcome from organisations working to reduce bed poverty and improve outcomes for children and families, including:
- Registered charities
- Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs)
- Charitable companies limited by guarantee
- Schools and educational establishments delivering charitable activity, and
- Community organisations and unincorporated associations delivering charitable activity (with an established governing document, management committee and bank account in the organisation’s name)
To apply, eligible organisations should complete the Small Grants Application Form and email it with their governing document and safeguarding policy (or links to them), by 5pm on Tuesday 3 November 2026.
