The Foundation's main objective is to provide modest donations that will have a positive impact on the lives of disadvantaged or vulnerable people in the communities where the Monmouthshire Building Society has a presence which is largely South Wales but also Clevedon and Portishead.
Grants are generally for under £2,000 for registered charities, community groups and clubs in South Wales, Powys and border counties. In the past, the Foundation has supported organisations in Bristol, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South-East Wales.
The Foundation funds projects in the following fields:
- the prevention or relief of poverty
- the advancement of community development
- the advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science
- the advancement of environmental protection or improvement
- the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age or disability
- the advancement of animal welfare
Applicants do not need to be members of the Building Society in order to apply for a grant but they must have at least one year of published accounts covering a 12-month period.
