This is an annual initiative dedicated to strengthening access to books and learning opportunities through libraries and community-centred programmes.
The 2026 Literacy Grants were themed “Libraries & Literacy Access” and focussed on supporting
- public libraries
- school libraries
- community libraries
The aim is to:
- strengthen library programmes
- create new ways for readers to access books and learning opportunities
- serve book deserts and underserved communities
Organisations eligible to apply must be based in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada or the United States, although supported projects may be implemented outside the organisation’s home country.
The deadline for applications was Saturday 28 February 2026.
