The Lacrosse Foundation

Small Grants up to £2,500 and Large Grants over £2,500 are available to a wide range of organisations, including local authorities, schools, voluntary organisation, charities and sports clubs in England, Scotland and Wales for projects and activities that champion the growth of lacrosse in Great Britain.  Small grants are also available to individuals

Lacrosse is a fast-paced contact team sport where players use a long-handled stick with a netted pocket (called a crosse) to catch, carry, pass, and shoot a small rubber ball.  The objective is to outscore the opponent by shooting the ball into their goal.

The Foundation’s objectives are:

  • To promote community participation in health recreation by providing facilities for participating in lacrosse and other sports that constitute healthy recreation ("facilities" means land, buildings, equipment and organising sporting events).
  • To provide and assist in providing facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure occupation of such persons who have need for such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social or economic circumstance or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving their condition of life.
  • To advance the education of children and young people; and
  • To advance any other purpose that is charitable in accordance with the laws of England and Wales in association with sport.

Projects most likely to be awarded a grant are those that are seeking to start a new programme or expand an existing programme.  Projects seeking to replace existing equipment or fund normal operating costs of a club are likely to fall outside of the Foundation’s mission.

You should be able to find all the information you need to make an application in the Foundation’s Grant Application Guidance.  This provides some general information as well as some specific guidance for different organisations.  This guidance is underpinned by the Foundation’s Grant Policy.

Further information and access to the grant application form is available on the Foundation’s website.
