The Jerwood Foundation

This Foundation supports excellence and emerging talent in the arts in the UK.  They welcome funding applications from organisations with focus on making art available for public benefit and working with their collection.

The Jerwood Foundation was recently established as a grant-making charity after merging with the Jerwood Charity (more commonly referred to as Jerwood Arts).  Many of the trustees of the new Foundation were also trustees of the Jerwood Charity.  The Jerwood Foundation is expected to continue the Jerwood Charity’s role as a leading independent funder dedicated to supporting outstanding UK arts and crafts organisations develop and thrive.  The Foundation's ambition is to award grants totalling up to £2 million annually to arts-based organisations for activities and projects that support the promotion of the arts for public benefit.

Grants of between £1,000 and £20,000 are available.  They do not provide funding to individuals, fund educational courses, core organisational costs or capital endowments.

Your application should be a maximum of 10 sides of A4 (excluding audited accounts which can be sent as a separate document) and include:

  • a one-page covering letter with a summary of your project; requested grant amount and payment date;
  • a short description; start date and project timeline; and number of direct beneficiaries and projected audience figures.
  • any additional information about your project or organisation that is relevant to your application
    your budget and fundraising plan
  • a copy of your organisation's latest audited accounts or if you are a small charity and not required to produce audited accounts, please provide your annual budget (with income and expenditure detail).

Trustees will only consider applications for projects starting more than 3 months, but less than 12 months, from the funding round closing date.
