The Heritage at Risk Capital Fund gives grants for the conservation, repair and conversion of listed buildings of all grades, historic buildings in conservation areas, registered parks and gardens and scheduled monuments.
Grants of up to £1 million are available to organisations or individuals with legal responsibility for the asset.
Priority will be given to projects in areas of England with the highest level of deprivation and need for investment, and those that bring most community benefit.
Your project must also match one or more of Historic England's priorities, which are to:
- Help more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from the historic environment
- Use heritage to improve civic pride, prosperity, and wellbeing
- Achieve a positive change and sustainable future for historic places, including buildings, landscapes, archaeological sites, and marine assets
- Ensure heritage plays an important role in the fight to limit and manage the effects of climate change
For this fund they ask all applicants to complete an expression of interest (EOI). If your EOI is successful, you'll be invited to make a full application.
The deadline for submitting EOIs for the first round of grants is Sunday 7 June, 2026. Further rounds of grants will follow later in the year and in future years.
