Heart Research UKs 2026 grants programme offers a limited number of grants up to £15,000 for projects that support new, original and innovative work that actively promotes a healthy heart and helps prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease in local communities. Projects should run for between 3 and 12 months.
5 grants of £15,000 are available to charitable organisations with an annual turnover of less than £1 million across the UK during 2026, as follows:
- WALES: 1 grant for a project in Wales. Applications opened on Wednesday 25 March with a deadline of Wednesday 22 April 2026.
- NORTH OF ENGLAND: 1 project grant available. Applications open at 9am on Wednesday 6 May and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 3 June 2026.
- SCOTLAND: 1 project grant available. Applications open at 9am on Wednesday 10 June and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 8 July 2026.
- SOUTH OF ENGLAND: 1 project grant available. Applications open at 9am on Wednesday 15 July and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 12 August 2026, and
- NORTHERN IRELAND: 1 grant for a project in Northern Ireland. Applications open at 9am on Wednesday 19 August and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 16 September 2026.
Project proposals, which can come from UK not-for-profit organisations, including registered charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, sports and physical activity clubs, should focus one or more of the following risk factors of heart disease:
- Alcohol.
- Nutrition and Healthy Eating.
- Physical Activity, and/or
- Smoking.
Innovative projects that have the ability to make a significant impact are likely to be prioritised for grant support.
